Rachel & Steven at Via Vecchia!
I had the privilege of sharing in Rachel and Steven's wedding as their officiant in Columbus, Ohio! They chose Via Vecchia Winery as their venue. Below, bride and groom enjoy a happy moment as they walk the aisle together!
The love that Steven and Rachel share is sweet and genuine. My heart sometimes jumps a little when I see a couple enjoy moments like the one seen below.
There is a great deal of emotion in the 2 images that follow and I feel that these images have their own language. Take a close look at bride with father; then bride with father while she looks upon her groom.
Here is a full image of their indoor ceremony.
Just love this shot! What a fun group!
Another very genuine and touching moment shared by Rachel & Steven. I feel fortunate just to be able to see and enjoy this moment in time.
At Via Vecchia couples can enjoy an outdoor ceremony or one that is indoors. This bride and groom chose an indoor ceremony with the delicious food served by the wonderful folks at Catering by Scott. The owners of Via Vecchia are Michael Elmer and Paolo Rosi. These men are some of the most warm, friendly, and kind you will ever meet. They create a real "family feeling" at Via Vecchia, and take great pride in making people feel so welcomed. They will make you feel like family too. Scott Bast, owner of Catering by Scott, loves his work and loves to make people happy. He is always so fun and friendly, and the food he and his staff prepare is amazing!

Franklin Park Conservatory's Wedding Magic
When looking for a wedding venue in Columbus, Ohio there is no place like Franklin Park Conservatory. I have the privilege of serving as the officiant for many brides and groom at this wonderful venue and the experience is always amazing. One reason why this venue stands out is the dedication and professionalism of the staff at this Conservatory.
I had the opportunity to talk with Colleen Tassone and Ariana Tyler earlier this summer. These ladies were kind enough to spend some time with me as we explored some aspects about this venue that distinguishes it from the rest.
Franklin Park Conservatory is a garden in an urban area. Brides and grooms are able to get the best of both the lush garden surroundings, and all the urban benefits of being situated close to downtown Columbus. The photographs couples obtain are unique and incomparable. Also, brides and grooms receive a high level of customer service. Colleen shared, "Everybody's number one goal here is that the event goes off flawlessly".
There are specific time frames built in with each event step very clearly delineated, so couples know what to expect and when. Each couple also receives a personal wedding coordinator who does so much at the rehearsal and on the wedding day to make sure every need is met. It's great!
The staff also maintains a fantastic rapport with the vendors serving their couples, and have a "team mentality" when it comes to bringing about a successful wedding. This all works together for a wonderful wedding experience.
Hanging out on the steps in the Palm House...
These are the ladies who make this all work... No they are not showing off, they are just happy to be a part of such an awesome team!
Okay I could not resist this...plus the photographer wanted this shot - (That's my excuse anyway!)
Overlooking the West Terrace...
Here you can see a little bit of what I was looking at. It is all so incredibly beautiful.
When I asked Colleen "If there were 3 things that make Franklin Park Conservatory truly stand out as one of Central Ohio's Premier wedding venues what would they be? She said that they were the Botanical Gardens, the convenience and amenities, and the customer service. These ladies seen below make it all happen. I invite you contact Franklin Park Conservatory for your wedding needs. You won't be disappointed!

Katie & Mark at The Columbus Athenaeum!
The Columbus Athenaeum in Ohio, is one of my favorite venues to serve as the wedding officiant for brides and grooms like Katie and Mark. The staff at this venue are very organized and punctual, and this can be very helpful as so much of a wedding is on a timeline! Ann Clark does a fantastic job and she was their wedding coordinator that day. In this first photo, Katie and Mark are having a great time together as they stand outdoors in downtown Columbus.
Here this beautiful couple and I enjoy a pose together. Katie chose an awesome bouquet. Let's take a closer look...
A great deal of detail went into crafting the arrangement for this bouquet so that appears much like a work of art!
Here I check in with the bride and offer a few words of encouragement to Katie. She felt very ready to begin! Mark and Katie have waited a long time for this day and want to celebrate!
One of my favorite parts of any wedding ceremony for me is when the words, "You may kiss the bride!", are spoken. And Mark truly kisses his bride! The guests were cheering and I was over to the side enjoying the reaction of all those in attendance.
Another great photo with the bride and groom with their bridesmaids and groomsmen in downtown Columbus.
Here Katie and Mark again enjoy each other's company, as they celebrate their future as husband and wife with all the possibilities and the promise it holds.

Katie & Mark used Master Mix DJ for their music and *Rachel's Cakes* for their wedding cake. Katie's beautiful dress was by David's Bridal.
I wish this beautiful couple all the best in the years to come! I was happy to serve as their officiant on their wedding day in Columbus Ohio!
Kayln & Matt - The Columbus Museum of Art
Serving as the wedding officiant at the Columbus Museum of Art in Ohio is always a wonderful experience for me. Katie Laux and the staff there are fantastic, and the lighting is often excellent for those important wedding photos. I was privileged to celebrate with Kayln & Matt on their special day! Their reception was held at the Boat House at Confluence Park in Columbus, a very picturesque location for any event. At the Boat House, Matt and Kayln threaten each other with wedding cake! They appear so happy together. In a later shot you will see that they both scored points with that desert! Who won? You'll just have to wait and see.
Here the happy bride and groom walk down the aisle as "husband and wife!" Isn't Kayln's bouquet amazing? You can also see the mother of the bride turning her head toward the newly married couple as they exit.
Enjoying a quick photo while signing the all-important marriage license.
And now off to their wedding reception at the Boat House!
Kayln & Matt in their limousine. They are radiant and happy to be married!
Time for their "grand entrance" at the reception. Cool wedding dress that Kayln has chosen!
Wedding cake that looks too good to eat! The Columbus city skyline can be obscurely seen in the background.
Victory! Kayln and Matt smear that decorative desert on each other but find it's well worth it for the fun they share.
Thank you Kayln & Matt! It was a pleasure celebrating with you and your friends and family at your memorable wedding day celebration!

Wedding Officiant for Darlene & Don at Jorgensen Farms near Columbus Ohio
Darlene and Don enjoy a special moment on their wedding day in Greater Columbus Ohio. They needed an officiant and had a friend call me first. Their friend explained how they wanted a simple, yet intimate and meaningful ceremony at Jorgensen Farms in Westerville. The bride and groom scheduled a meeting with me at our office and we began to design their personalized ceremony on the spot.
As you can see in this second photo we were having a lot of fun and enjoyed a great rapport.
You may kiss the bride!
Darlene is filled with excitement and expectation, and feels happy and satisfied as the newly married bride!
Now I take care of the marriage license. We want to make sure their marriage is legally recognized.
Here the sun shines through above us as I stand with this happy couple. I like to think of it as a "good omen" for their future!
I really like this country-style wedding sign with the candles. I felt it was a very nice touch!

Erica & Ben at Whetstone Park of Roses!
Whetstone Park of Roses sits in Columbus, Ohio and is the site of many weddings! As the officiant at the ceremony for Erica & Ben, it was my honor to celebrate with them and to pronounce them husband and wife!
The weather was hot at this outdoor celebration, but family and guests hardly noticed as the attention was focused upon this lovely bride and her groom. The Marriage Readings they selected were "The Art of Marriage" by Wilfred A. Peterson, and "Thoughts in a Garden" by R. Gerhart. As you can tell by their photos, the readings were quite fitting for their special day. Let me share a few of the opening words to "The Art of Marriage" - "A good marriage must be created. In the art of marriage the little things are the big things... It is never being too old to hold hands. It is remembering to say 'I love you' at least once each day." And now an excerpt from "Thoughts in a Garden" as we continue on to the next few images.
"This is a special place, a place where people have brought beautiful living plants, here to establish them, to nurture and care for them, that they may forever surround us with the beauty we now see.
And into this place where we stand, you have brought something beautiful -- the relationship that is becoming your marriage.
Here you are declaring it and pledging it, promising to establish and nurture it."
Now Ben & Erica step into their future to experience their lives together in the warm embrace of married love!

Lisa & Nick at the Brookshire, Delaware!
What a fun time at the wedding ceremony of this sweet couple, Lisa & Nick! The Brookshire in Delaware Ohio hosted the event , and I was their officiant. The venue sits just North of Columbus, Ohio, on Route 23. I love these next two photos as Lisa & Nick enjoy each other in the rural setting outside Brookshire.
We had a fun time of celebration during their wedding as shown here, and then I get to pose with them after the ceremony is over.
This bride and groom were very easy to talk to and just hang out with, and they share a friendship that is contagious.
This image below is my favorite shot of this happy couple! Thank you Lisa & Nick for allowing me to share on the very special day when you became husband and wife!

Amber & Adam at the Athletic Club of Columbus!
I was privileged to be the officiant for another wonderful Ohio wedding at the Athletic Culb of Columbus. Adam and Amber were celebrating with many friends and family members whom they were acknowledging as they made their way down the aisle in this first photo. You can also get a great look here at Amber's beautiful dress supplied by Big Rock Little Rooster (located in downtown Columbus).
Amber and Adam did a great deal of prep work in anticipation of their amazing wedding day. I was so glad to be a part of their lives and that I was able to share those very special moments with this beautiful couple.
Kristin Coburn was the Athletic Club's event lady doing an awesome job coordinating the many activities for a successful event. The bride and groom also brought wedding planner, Lisa Sullivan, on board and she payed such close attention to so many of the details for Amber and Adam along the way. She was great.

Joanna & Aaron at Franklin Park Conservatory
Fun wedding in Columbus, Ohio.... more comments posted below, after the photos.
As the officiant for Joanna & Aaron I had the joy of participating in this couple's dream of a western ceremony. They did hold to some of their Asian traditions, though, which is why you see Aaron standing to my right, instead of my left. They were a beautiful couple and I was so happy to celebrate with them on their special day at Franklin Park Conservatory.

Making It Legal
I love this photo taken by a friend of Rachelle and Matt after their wedding. I felt fortunate to be the wedding officiant for this dedicated couple as they became husband and wife that day in Columbus, Ohio.
Signing the marriage license is the last step of the process. The couple's marriage certificate is signed and filed with the county, and then the probate court certifies the marriage on the county records. Then the couple can request their "marriage abstract", which is the document that says they are married. The marriage abstract is the document that a new wife presents to the Social Security Administration for her name change.
For more information about applying for and certifying your marriage in Franklin County, follow this link to the Franklin County Probate Court - Marriage License Department. They have some great information there that couples find very helpful.
Thanks for visiting my website and have a great day!
Beautiful wedding venue - The Columbus Athenaeum in Ohio
Recently I had the opportunity to visit the Athenaeum in downtown Columbus, Ohio where many outstanding weddings are held. As an officiant, I have the honor of celebrating with many brides and grooms at this very tasteful and busy venue. The staff always amazes me, because sometimes they are holding 4 weddings at the same time! Talk about the need to coordinate! But they manage all the details so well and consistently provide their brides and grooms with outstanding service in a setting that is filled with beauty and charm. Oh, by the way...the food is fantastic! Wait until you try their meatballs.
Here is a shot of the outside of the venue. It can be deceiving because the inside is incredible.
In this next shot I am with Gina Cristofani, Sales and Event Manager, and we are in the Priory discussing some wedding details. It was a fun visit and Gina does a great job as she has to coordinate many things to make the wedding day experience come together as it should. The entire staff runs like clockwork.
Here you can see some of the incredible architecture inside the Priory within the walls of this 1896 structure.
Here is a look from just outside the Priory.
Open Prism Photography took this shot along the way while we were there. I thought it looked pretty cool.
Here is a quick look at the Macedonian Room.
The Small Theater is another amazing location for both weddings and receptions, or both. I did not know this photo was taken...
I felt that this lamp base was a fitting sign for a place where so many brides and grooms commit to a lifetime of love as they become husband and wife.

Wedding Day Dream - Brenda & Clint at Darby House
I was so glad that Brenda & Clint asked me to celebrate with them as their wedding officiant. They chose the beautiful Darby House in Columbus, Ohio as their location. It is easy to enjoy this first photo with Brenda and Clint's look of delight as they gaze upon each other on this very special day.
A tender kiss for the bride and groom, now pronounced "husband and wife". They love each other like no one else and it shows!
Two very lovely and sweet flower girls make their appearance and add the touch of flower petals to the ceremony location. These little ladies clearly have the attention of the guests!
In order to personalize their ceremony for them, I had the honor of sharing a few thoughts with the guests. Here is one of those thoughts - "We initially bonded over our similar taste in music and have attended many concerts together. Our relationship was very easy right from the start – no games, no dishonesty – completely natural."
I am going to let these last 4 special images of Brenda & Clint's wedding day speak for themselves.

Danielle & Bill at Brookshire in Delaware!
Bill and Danielle asked me to be their officiant for their wedding celebration at Brookshire Premiere Event Facility near Columbus, Ohio. Brookshire sits off Route 23 about 8 miles north of I-270 in Delaware, Ohio. In this photo below I am posing with this happy couple. Danielle and Bill have a true sense of humor and also are some of the most caring people with whom I have had the pleasure to celebrate.
Their sand ceremony was distinctly unique. You see, this bride and groom are soldiers serving the USA and living to protect our freedoms. They obtained the grounding layer of sand from Omaha Beach on the shores of Normandy, France. If you have seen Steven Spielberg's movie "Saving Private Ryan" you have experienced a depiction of the devastation that took place on Omaha Beach, and the profound loss of lives endured when Americans began to liberate Europe from the Germans. So this grounding layer was extraordinary.
In this photo we were discussing just how special their own sand ceremony was and as we contemplated how fortunate we are to have men and women who are willing to live to defend the cause of freedom. They were both so humble about their own service to our country.
This was a touching day in so many ways. I was very happy to have been able to celebrate with these two very special people.

Another Beautiful Wedding at Franklin Park Conservatory
As the wedding officiant for Jessica and Daniel, I was honored to celebrate with this bride and groom. We were in Columbus, Ohio, and it was time to sign the marriage license at Franklin Park Conservatory on their big day. It was fabulous weather and a wonderful moment. I love Jessica and Daniel's expressions as they both look on at the signing. You can tell that this bride and groom are meant for each other.
Here is a close up view of the marriage license as their wedding photographer, Comfort Witcher, captures the image.
In this photograph Jessica and I were looking together at her marriage license. She is so happy that this day has come and we were enjoying the fact that she and Daniel are now married.
The happy groom - Here is a great shot of Daniel as he stands with joy and anticipation as his lovely bride will be approaching soon. I found this couple to be very kind and sweet. When they were together I was able to feel their love for each other and for other people, too. I was happy to celebrate with Jessica and Daniel on the beautiful day they became husband and wife.

Time to sign The Marriage License - Genevieve & Max
It was a beautiful fall day in Columbus, Ohio where I was the wedding officiant for Genevieve and Max. Here I sign their marriage license as they celebrate their love at North Bank Park, near downtown.
The weather was amazing on that early October day in 2011. This devoted couple wrote personal vows for each other, followed by traditional repeat vows at their ring exchange. There were a few tears shed...tears of joy and the wonder of love. It was beautiful.
These amazing photographs were provided by Tiarra Howell (Tia) of Agape Photography. Please visit her website by following the link provided. You can also reach Tia by email at info@agapephotographs.com or by phone by calling 614-425-1121.

Love, children, & weddings - Kendra and Nathan at Franklin Park Conservatory
The pleasure of being invited by brides and grooms to be the officiant at their wedding involves many things. We were at Franklin Park Conservatory in Columbus, Ohio, and on Kendra and Nathan's special day, their flower girl and ring bearer brought smiles and joy. Cute beyond words, the photo of these two special children below is one that can be looked at often and again.
I really felt that I wanted to include this photo of Kendra because it is unique and intriguing. It holds an unspoken depth. Now let's look at some of their ceremony...
All the guests were distracted by the all-out "cuteness" of this ring bearer and flower girl.
"Let's really feel these petals. This is so much fun!"
Here we are in the Brides Garden at Franklin Park Conservatory. The bride and groom now Mr. and Mrs.! Let's hear a little of what was in their ceremony..."Kendra and Nathan met 5 years ago at Ohio University. They both knew from the very beginning of their friendship that something great was going to happen between them, but were too afraid to admit it to each other. Well obviously, they got over those fears and that is why we are celebrating here, with them today."
I am very happy for Nathan and Kendra. Here we are in front of the south doors that open for events.
Sweet moment with groom and bride. Again, a unique photo. Their photographer took many shots with a not-so-common flair.
Here she is again. Flower girl personified.
And lastly, an awesomely sweet shot of bride, Kendra, with her flower girl. Like most in this entry, this photo speaks by itself.

I had the pleasure of working with Andrea Bannan at Franklin Park Conservatory. She did (and does) a wonderful job making sure that all couples have a fantastic wedding experience.
Kendra and Nathan, I wish you every good blessing in your lives together! Thanks for asking me to be your officiant for your wedding day in Columbus, Ohio!
Sarah and Brent - Four Seasons Wedding Venue!
It was another beautiful day in Columbus, Ohio. As the wedding officiant for Sarah and Brent on the day they were married at Four Seasons venue, it was my honor to share in some very precious moments in their lives. In the photograph below you can feel the rich glow of their love. This bride is highly photogenic. This couple's family and friends were really enjoying this celebration. Here, Sarah stands with her father.Sarah and Brent have many ways to communicate with each other. Sometimes a look or a glance is enough. Let's listen in on their ceremony...."As many of you know this beautiful couple was set up by Sarah’s mom, who had seen some potential in Brent & Sarah being together. In January of 2008, they had exchanged phone numbers and pictures and started dating right away and by the summer of 2009 they pretty much knew they were going to be married." Brent and Sarah also have a great sense of humor. They are always joking with each other and having fun, and they have some funny stories about their relationship. With words from their ceremony, before they were engaged..."They were together on a trip to the Smoky Mountains in Tennessee. While they were there in Gatlinburg she had noticed a Diamond Cellar bag among their belongings so what crossed Sarah’s mind when she saw this Diamond Cellar bag was (not that her engagement ring was in it - but that something completely different of Brent's)... was in it!" The story continues from there..."Later she came out onto the porch and there was a different expression on Brent’s face as it was unfolding before the two of them that this was the moment that he would propose to the one he loved." Some more humor - "Some of you may not know that on their first date Brent tried to get Sarah hypnotized on stage." "And their first real vacation was a motorcycle ride….around lake Erie…packing in a saddle bag for a week!!"But with all their humor and zest for life their dedication is very real as "Sarah wants to marry Brent because of his unique, positive, and strong personality. She is attracted to him, also, because of his caring, loving nature." And..."Brent wants to marry Sarah because he finds her so beautiful; her personality, her smile, and her eyes. He also loves her sense of humor, her generosity, and her integrity as a person." "And ladies and gentleman this is why we are here today. To celebrate with Brent and Sarah the joyous love and devotion they share as today, they become united for all their days as husband and wife."

Sarah and Brent, I wish you the very best this life has to offer! Thanks again for inviting me to celebrate your wedding with you as your officiant. I enjoyed it immensely!
Alison & Justin! - Heritage Golf Club
I had the privilege to celebrate as the officiant at Alison and Justin's wedding in Columbus, Ohio. We were at Heritage Golf Club in Hilliard and looking at the picture below you can feel the love and tenderness this couple shares. This venue is a fantastic place to have a wedding. The atmosphere is light and the food is amazing. The Sales and Catering Manager, Jody Unger, does a fabulous job and she truly cares. She is very sensitive to each couples needs and works tirelessly to see that each wedding is a unique and memorable experience.
In the photograph below, We are just having a little fun during the ceremony. I forget exactly what was said but the bride and groom were enjoying each moment. Justin reads personal vows he prepared. For a moment the emotions he feels breaks through and we are all touched. Here is a shot of me receiving their rings. Now Alison reads her incredible personal vows for Justin. It was very hot that day, but the joy of these moments overshadowed the summer heat. Alison receives Justin's ring while I hold the personal vows she just read to her groom. Amazing. I had the honor of reading some things about this loving couple. Part of their ceremony went like this. From Alison, "On Saturday, June 19, while in Wisconsin and on the way to a going away party for him, we passed by the kickball field that held so much meaning for us. Justin suggested we go look around one last time. "As we got out of the car and started walking around Justin began reminiscing about the first time he saw me, the first time he talked to me, and the first time he thought I might be a 'cool girl'. Then he said we had so many good memories on the kickball field, why not have one more. Then he got down on one knee and proposed. Of course I said 'yes' and here we are, getting married! "Justin’s sweet and gentle nature keeps me sane when things get crazy. We fit together perfectly. Because He lets me do things that are unique to my life and my personality, I feel even more love for Justin. When we are together, we are completely together and pay attention to each other. Justin always listens to me and more importantly actually remembers what I say, sometimes even better than I do! By listening and paying attention I can tell that he really does love and care for me. I have a hectic life and I am very busy but Justin has such a calm demeanor that spending time with him is an instant stress reliever. I also know that I can count on Justin for anything. I feel we are true partners. I think it helps that both sets of our parents have been married for so long that we have great examples of what it takes to be in a good marriage. Being with Justin makes life easier. I never realized how much I was missing until I met Justin. Now I can’t imagine my life without him."
Now from Justin. Be prepared to smile and laugh.
"Alison was my first girlfriend. All those little cues and lessons you pick up in a relationship I didn't have when we first met. I didn't know how long to wait to ask a girl out. When you got their phone number how long till you call, television shows told me if you call too soon she'll think you’re desperate. Most importantly, I was brand new at picking up and giving out the signs for when you want to kiss someone for the first time. My first plan went like this... "We were hiking in a state park. I knew there was a great view at the top. I imagined us looking out at the view and then sharing our first kiss. It would be magical. We reached the top of the trail and I sat down looking out - Step one for my big chance. However, although I was sitting she did not sit down and instead continuing right past me on the trail! I was kicking myself that night."
"It was the next time… we went out to a movie. Afterwards we headed back to her place and talked on the couch. The whole time in my head I was saying to myself 'KISS HER', but I was too afraid. It got late and it was time for me to leave. She opened the door and I started to leave. There I am … in the doorway. If I continue leaving maybe it will never happens for us. Instead I turn around and tell her 'There's just one more thing.' Perhaps she could read my eyes saying 'I really want to kiss you, but don't know how.' She reached out, grabbed my shirt, pulled me to her, and planted one on me. Needless to say when I left, I was on cloud nine. The more and more time I spent with her the more I realized how much we had in common. She liked BattleStar Galactica, I like BattleStar Galactica. She loved board games, I love board games. She liked chicken …. well, it’s a good thing because she is going eat a lot of chicken if we're going out together. (Justin loves chicken). When she moved to St. Louis… I remember fighting back tears the whole ride back to Madison. I remember how much I hated that six hour drive, but how much I loved seeing her when I got there. I don't know for sure when I knew we'd be in it for the long haul. What I do know is that in that doorway she didn't grab my shirt, she grabbed my heart, and I'm still on cloud nine." Teresa & Ben - Wedding Ceremony at Scioto Reserve
After Teresa and Ben met with me in our United Marriage Services office in Columbus, Ohio they decided to ask me to be their officiant for their wedding day. My philosophy is that a wedding ceremony is a celebration that should not be stale or boring. We were at Scioto Reserve venue in Powell. Already enjoying a great deal of humor and fun in their relationship, Ben and Teresa made it easy to celebrate their lifetime commitment with laughter and smiles. We worked on their ceremony together so that it was personalized to reflect their own relationship. Here is a little sample of their own unique (and fun) wording. Keep reading, it gets good..."Teresa saw Ben, in her own words, as 'serious husband material.' Their story began while working together years ago, when one day Teresa said to him, 'Hey Clark!' (Because he looks like Clark Kent). Then she asked, 'Is that your real name?' He answered, 'No, but I get that all the time.' Teresa was rather bold in handing him a slip of paper and declaring, 'Here’s my number, I think we should go out sometime!'They continued to develop a friendship for 3 years, and the circumstances of their lives changed, opening the door for there to be more than friendship between them. As Ben continues to work hard in law school, they have supported and encouraged each other, and look forward to continuing in the love that has grown between them." Teresa and Ben also took advantage of our Marriage Foundations™ pre-marriage program. Here is a little feedback from what they wrote, "I would highly recommend this class to anyone in a serious relationship, the classes help put marriage in the perspective it needs to be." and also, "The main benefit for me was the road map for a successful, life long relationship." You can read more of what Ben & Teresa had to say by following this link to Weddingwire.
